where is the grid?

And surprise! No grid behind the flappers!
Fantech, please review your design. I don't mind
the aluminum tail pipe. I'll be careful, but
missing grid!?!? You are going to get it back.

Well constructed at a good price

It works, and I will buy again.
This is similar to the 4 inch louvered duct fitting typically used for dryers - just bigger. The plastic louvers move easily without any binding. The through-wall tube is light aluminum so you need to handle with care when attaching to inside ducting. (I typically expect 6 inch flexible ducting to be heavier than 4 inch, and this tube being the same lightweight stuff used for 4 inch exhausts made me more cautious.) The metal tube to exterior plastic cover attachment is a typical force-fit-over-molded-flanges arrangement. I think there were four flanges and matching holes in the tube. Tight but secure fit - but a real pain to do carefully without crushing the thin metal tube.
Two asides: 1) This doesn't come with a cage cover, so if you will mount this near the ground within rodent access range you should consider some metal mesh. 2) if you will be detaching and attaching the ducting, or subjecting it to stress where attached you may want to make your own through-wall tube out of heavier gauge roof flashing. Just a thought.

The product looks beat up and used. Nothing like the one in the picture. The duct in the picture looks sturdy and nice. The one sent to me is very flimsy.
